Muslim Youth Leadership Embarking on a Journey to Strive for Excellence


WE LEAD 2024


We Lead is a Summer Leadership Programme for the youth of West Midlands, between the ages of 16 & 21. It is organised at Birmingham Central Mosque by Imam Mohammad Asad MBE, to empower the youth with vital skills and competencies, which will enable them to flourish, by giving them a head start in life. It will take place during the school summer holidays. Multiple organisations have partnered up to deliver interactive and engaging sessions which will cover the following areas:


   

 Empowering Skill and competencies


  • Leadership - Styles, Team Dynamics, and Team Roles: Understanding and practicing effective leadership and teamwork


  • Nurturing - Tarbiyyah, Islamic Upbringing, Spiritual and Behavioural Development: Seeking guidance from Revelation (Quran and Sunnah) and practicing it to attain excellence


  • Finance - Understanding Interest, Financial Planning, Halal Income and Avoidance of Debt: Nurturing financial literacy and responsible financial planning and earning


  • Inter & Intra faith - Interfaith Dialogues, Exploring Similarities, Respecting Differences: Fostering mutual understanding, tolerance, and respect through interfaith dialogue


  • Communications - Presentation, Communication and Oracy Skills: Enhancing public speaking and communication abilities


  • Decisions - Critical Thinking, Conflict Management, and Decision Making: Developing critical thinking skills and conflict resolution techniques


  • Health & Safety - Personal Health, Hygiene, First Aid, Healthy Diets, Cleanliness, Safety Awareness: Looking after yourself and others


  • Outreach - Serving Communities, Volunteering, Impacting Lives, Gaining Skills, Charitable Impact, Compassion: Developing appreciation through gratitude


  • Marital - Justice and Fairness, Consultation, Humility, Trustworthiness Patience and Perseverance, Compassion and Mercy, Accountability, Empathy and Consideration, Negotiation and Persuasion: Working towards successful relationships in marriages


  • Caring communities - Strong Emotional, Pastoral, Social and Spiritual Support, Overcoming Challenges, Creating Safe Spaces: Understanding challenges and providing solutions


  • Personal development - Self-Reflection, Analytical thinking, Self-Awareness, Personal Drive, Impact, and influence, 360 feedback: Finding gaps in personal journeys and improving


  • Politics - Understanding UK Government, British Government, Local Councils, and Citizenship: Empowering delegates to become active and engaged citizens




How much will it cost?


There will be no cost for the selected cohort to attend the engaging sessions, to participate in activities or to go on the trip. Costs will be covered by 'We Lead'. Transport and lunch will not be covered unless stated. Upon completion of the programme, the participants will be encouraged and inspired to contribute in the community and Masjid by undertaking youth leadership roles and becoming future champions and role models for others.





Where will it take place?

It will take place at various organisations across the West Midlands on different dates. Participants should be able to travel to the places punctually.




When will it take place?


Over the summer school holidays (July-August 2024). Participants will be required to attend the sessions in order to receive a certificate upon completion. A detailed programme will be shared with successful participants.
